Projects

Projects are where the monies raised by Reduce My Footprint are used.

Projects are at the centre of carbon offsetting in particular, and sustainable tourism in general.

The skill is in the correct selection of the available projects - and there are many - that will provide the maximum positive impact.

For this key role, ABTA have chosen a team of three organisations to source and manage projects on behalf of the companies and individuals who use the Reduce My Footprint website.

• CarbonOffsetsLtd to focus on carbon reduction projects that are formally verified VERs   or CERs and bring other social and economic benefits
  
  
• The Travel Foundation ; and The Converging World to focus on renewable energy in the developing world and carbon reduction in the tourism industry
  
  
• TICOS ; to focus on climate change projects which also deliver sustainable development benefits

Currently two wind power projects in Tamil Nadu in India are included in the RMF portfolio, one of which is already offering Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), and the other - supported by the Travel Foundation - which is not yet approved.

The particular CER and VER projects on offer will change as Reduce My Footprint offset portfolio develops over time.
